RIP: Remembering “Macho Man” Randy Savage

Let’s take a moment to remember and pay homage to late professional wrestler and actor “Macho Man” Randy Savage.

An intense performer who could be both intimidating and funny, Savage’s signature growl and flamboyant attire made him a standout beyond the ring. Inside it, he was tough and often brutal, finishing his opponents with a devastating flying elbow drop. During his legendary run Savage was a USWA Heavyweight Champion, 3-time NWA Mid-America Heavyweight Champion, 4-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion, and 2-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion. His golden career led to his 2015 induction into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Unfortunately for Savage’s family, friends and fans he wasn’t present at the ceremony. He passed away on May 20, 2011 after suffering a heart attack while driving. He was 58.

A pop culture icon, Savage famously endorsed Slim Jim jerky snacks, peddling the treats with the memorable slogan “Snap into a Slim Jim!” His Intercontinental Championship defense against Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat at WrestleMania III is considered the greatest match in the 35-year history of the annual event. And for many Savages’s cameo as Bonesaw McGraw in 2002’s ‘Spider-Man’ is the single greatest movie cameo of all-time.

Thank you, “Macho Man” Randy Savage, for giving us so much to remember. RIP |
