NCG Cinema located at Eastwood Town Center in Lansing, MI had a special fan showing of Marvel’s ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ on November 2, 2017. LiquidAE.com was there in the packed theater to enjoy this highly anticipated film.
We got our gorgeous collectors tin of popcorn, filled its colorful companion cup full of cherry slush, and sat comfortably in red leather seats to watch what was an enjoyable film from start to finish.
Directed by Taika Waititi, this is the 3rd film in the Thor franchise and the 17th in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Here the God of Thunder finds himself trying to prevent the prophecy of Ragnarok – the end of his home world of Asgard – from coming true.
Taking place two years after the events of ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’, Thor and his mischievous brother Loki return to Earth in search of their father Odin, the missing king of Asgard. With an assist from Dr. Strange they not only find Odin but learn from him darker times are ahead. He reveals to his sons he is dying, and upon his death their unbeknownst older sister Hela the Goddess of Death would be freed from an ages-long imprisonment. Her return would bring about Ragnarok.
Hela also brings with her some dark family secrets.
This race against precious time finds Thor marooned on the gladiator planet of Sakaar where he meets and is captured by the last living Valkyrie of Asgard, sold to celestial The Grand Master, and forced to fight his champion The Incredible Hulk – who abandoned his Avengers mates following their deadly battle with Ultron.
Eventually Thor teams with Hulk, Valkyrie and Loki, they flee Sakaar for Asgard where Thor gives his all and then some in attempt to defeat his powerful and sinister sister.
Not wanting to give too much away, ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ is an awesome movie. On top of it having an engaging story while being a visual treat, this film is hilarious! The action and intrigue will have you glued to your seat. Its quick, fun dialogue and comical antics throughout are sure to have you laughing out loud.
Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston give their best performances as Thor and Loki, Cate Blanchett is incredible as Hela, and Jeff Goldblum was by far the right choice as The Grand Master. If you were concerned the previews showed too much, especially of the fight between Thor and Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), what you saw was a very small sample of an epic affair.
And in case you don’t know by now, don’t leave when the credits start to roll. It’s not over yet. |
