Black Super Heroes: Malina Moye [Art 101]

Superheroes are not just those fictional characters we see in comic books, cartoons and movies. They’re not accidents turned anonymous saviors wearing colorful outfits while wielding powers that defy science and nature. Super heroes are those real grounded persons whose actions impact, influence and improve the lives of others.

For this Black History Month we salute Malina Moye for being a Black Super Hero!

An electrifying lefty guitarist that impressively plays a Stratocaster upside down, the “Funk Rock Goddess” excites audiences all over the world. A Billboard charting singer, songwriter and producer, her songs and albums are critically acclaimed masterworks that represent skill, power, fun, and beauty.

Moya’s confident style and remarkable talent has landed her on the cover and pages of numerous high profile magazines. This list includes Vogue, Rolling Stone, Guitar World, and Vanity Fair. In each story told, Moye is grateful to fans, serious about her craft, and honored to be an inspiration to others.

In addition, Moye was the first African-American woman to play the National Anthem on guitar at a professional sporting event – NFL’s Minnesota Vikings vs Dallas Cowboys. She also graced the stage of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s tribute concert to late pioneering rocker Chuck Berry.

Best of all, Moye gives more than just exciting performance and ear-pleasing tunes that result in acclaim and accolades. A proud philanthropist and humanitarian, she is co-founder of – an organization dedicated to improving lives and communities. |
