Art 101: Lin Rountree’s “Pass The Groove”

[Art (noun): 1. the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power. 2. the various branches of creative activity.]

It’s okay to refer to “The Soul Trumpeter” Lin Rountree as “the modern day Miles Davis”.

With each Rountree release he continues to grow his own legend, yet shortens the creative and artist distances between himself and the late great Davis.

There was a time when making such a claim would be met with aggressive scrutiny and debate. Once you hear “Pass The Groove”, the first single from Rountree’s forthcoming album ‘Stronger Still’, you notice the seemingly effortless fusion of hip-hop, blues, doo wop, and Duke Ellington-era flair that Davis explored on his final album ‘Doo-Bop’.

A proud Motor City native, Rountree is the champion of the “new Detroit” jazz sound. As pristine and signature as it may be, its elements are a compilation of past, present and future rhythms.

Expect Lin Rountree to skillfully and artistically wind the clock on ‘Strong Still’ when it’s released in February 2018. |

Artist (noun): 1. a person skilled at a particular task or occupation.
